Between 1992 and 1999 Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra have performed around 60 concerts with Lord Menuhin, who used to call them “my Lithuanians”. He said: “Since our first meeting in Spain I was astonished by their musicianship. I worked with many excellent chamber orchestras, but this group of people is united by a very special quality which is disappearing from today’s communication. Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra has a complete integrity”.
In 1995 conducted by Lord Menuhin, the LCO gave an iconic performance of the Messiah with the African choir in a township outside Johannesburg in the newly liberated of apartheid Republic of South Africa.
“LCO is one of the orchestras which are inspired by an idea of pure music. For them it is not just a profession or an entertainment; it is everything.” Lord Yehudi Menuhin describing the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, which he conducted over 60 times. Together they performed throughout Spain, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway and in Egypt.
