Live recording of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra (Gidon Kremer and Tatjana Grindenko - violins, Alfred Schnittke - piano, Saulius Sondeckis - conductor) was used in the film Repentance (Pokayaniye; Покаяние) by Tengiz Abuladze premiered at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival, winning several prizes including the Grand Prize of the Jury and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury.
